When things don’t always go according to plan, beautiful things happen! And this wedding is a perfect example of that. May 18th, the year a storm hit the Bay Area in the middle of May. It hadn’t been done in years. Soggy sods were ruining outdoor ceremonies and there wasn’t a let up in the rain in site. Wedding vendors of all kinds were working on implementing plan b’s, c’s and d’s, and tenting companies were soon at capacity with last minute orders. Luckily, we always have a Plan B in place for outdoor ceremonies and were quick to execute with no time to spare. Shout out to our amazing vendor team – you’re the real MVP’s!
We were able to do something that had never been done at this venue. Install a 50′ tent the day before a 200 person wedding.
The Plan
The Haven at Tomales is a beautiful venue inside and out. Originally, we were going to host the ceremony on the lawn overlooking the existing pond of the working ranch. When the storm kept on coming (with no end in sight!), we moved the ceremony inside the barn, and who would have thought, it was absolutely amazing! The cozy setting was perfection with storm brewing outside.
Guests then enjoyed an even cozier cocktail hour inside the 50′ tent we installed beside the barn. Beer pong and specialty cocktails were the highlight.
The vendor team quickly transformed the space for dinner and dancing. Guests were welcomed in and went straight to the dance floor with entertainment by The Fresh Makers. The traditional Hora kicked off the reception and set the tone for the rest of the evening. To keep it casual, the couple opted for some homestyle bbq (it was only appropriate at a barn wedding!), with all the fixings. Instead of wedding cake, Culinary Eye Catering served the most adorable assorted mini pies.
The end of the night included an almost concert scene with guest swaying back and forth to the music. The love from this group could be felt a mile away. It was perfection!
